Sumac is a pungent spice with a sour taste, which is very important in Arab and Lebanese cuisine. It is used in southeast Asian cuisine as well. It can be used to marinate meat, add a pinch to your salad to enhance the flavor. Marinade meat and vegetable dishes, or pair with rice or raw Onions. If you want a little acidity but don’t want to squeeze the lemon juice, use this spice instead for extra flavor. In the West, Sumac like lemon juice or vinegar, and the food has a fruit-like sour taste when added.
